A question for Wiiers
Submitted by Miah on Fri, 11/20/2009 - 4:02pm.I've been looking at a Wii on and off since they came out, but never really got to the point of really wanting one.
But I'm getting closer - what I really see myself doing is playing the sports games on it, Tennis and Baseball seem like the most obvious candidates. I'm not really interested in other games of theirs right now.
Anyone have any of tennis games? Are they as fun as they look, and do they still provide a challenge after a while, or do they get pretty boring?
Thanks!

Remember Fantastic Contraption? This is Similar

Took me 3 lunchs to beat all levels (including the bonus levels) on bonus. Not nearly as interactive as Fantastic Contraption, but still a lot of fun.
Or at least a healthy distraction for Adam.

It just reminds me of Syphilis
Submitted by Miah on Tue, 07/07/2009 - 5:30am.Basically, SciFi is now SyFy... WTF?!?! Who are the numbnuts in charge there? They still want people to pronounce it SciFi, but now it just makes me think of a VD. Seriously... If you want people to pronounce it correctly, try something more grammatically correct... maybe CyFi? Of course that's just as inane.
Also, memo to the morons at the top... You don't have a brand, you only have a collection of genre-centric crap. All weekend are crappy B-rated movies (at best) and you continuously kill your popular shows rather than ride them threw the weaker times to create a better product for re-runs, which is 95% of your lineup anyway.
You tried to kill B5, you did kill it's sequal, Crusade. You've killed SG: Atlantis. Sanctuary might actually be good, but instead you're showing reruns of crappy 2 season series instead of reruns of Sancuatry to build a fanbase. I'm almost hoping you sell Eureka! so a channel with a brain can keep it from dying.
Now you're hyping Warehouse 13, which looks like the sci-fi version of The Librarian, which, note to you, sucked. You're also not very original, instead importing half your 'original' lineup from England (Dr. Who, though it seems gone, Primeval, and that Dr. Who spin off whatever it was).
Oh well... I'll DVR Eureka and Santcuary until you kill those off too with your inept management.

P.S. Ghost Hunters lost me after about 10 seconds. If I wanted to watch original Ghostbusters props being used in the original Blair Witch movie... well actually... I never would want to watch it.

Anyone else watch the premier of Hank on USA?
Submitted by Miah on Wed, 06/10/2009 - 6:52pm.I thought it was pretty good, but...
I don't see how it can be anything repetition from here. How many hot women can you have suffer from insanely rare problems inside of a week in a small population?
Here's hoping...

I thought this was awesome

Adam - TV Update?
Submitted by Miah on Wed, 02/04/2009 - 2:48pm.I've also started looking for something that takes up less space. From in store observations, Vizio seems to have the best picture/color with Phillps second (of course these are only the TVs you see at Target/Circuit City/Sears etc - so its hardly an exhaustive comparison).
So I was wondering how your research matched up? If there's one pearson I can count on to over-research something... ;-)

5-Hour Energy
Submitted by Miah on Wed, 01/07/2009 - 7:32am.Okay, here's a question - has anyone else used it? I've only used it 3 times, but it seems to work really well for me (and Nat, I was wrong, it does have caffiene in it, apparently equal to one cup of coffee).
Does anyone know of any negative effects?
As crazy as it seems (and I was very skeptical for a long time) the stuff does seem to work as advertised, including the no crash part.

Scotch Tape has X-Ray Powers
Submitted by Miah on Tue, 10/28/2008 - 5:33am.In a vaccum, peeling scotch tape produces x-rays
What's next? Blue-goo is the secret to self-exposure to gamma radiation?
Seriously though... they actually x-rayed a finger just from peeling scotch tape in a vaccum. They're now looking into making portable x-ray machines powered by scotch tape or something similar....
Don't worry though... apparently the effect only occurs in a vaccum... we haven't been x-raying ourselves with all those late-night science fair projects. LOL

Fantastic Contraption: The Rube Goldberg Edition
Submitted by Miah on Wed, 08/13/2008 - 9:31am.How's this... Everyone seems to be experimenting on Fantastic Contraption... any takers on trying to create the most complex set of machines to solve a level?
The rules would be simple:
1. Every machine must contribute in someway to solving the level (no building random windmills)
2. Each solution must have at least 3 machines (or individual components)
3. Thats actually about it.
Something like this one on level 7 or this one on level 3.

Now Subject lines:

At least they are interesting to read again... :-p

Car Shopping
Submitted by Miah on Thu, 06/26/2008 - 5:57pm.So news begets news...
I'm moving... But only 10 miles. Last summer I helped some coworkers with tearing out all the water-damaged carpet and other stuff in their sunlight basement after it flooded, and now they're offering me a room in the basement, cheap.
I'm not worried about the flooding (2 stump-pumps and a several 1,000s of dollars in concrete work to improve the drainage) as they've put in a lot of work to prevent future damage.

Anyway, good news begets good news as I can now also afford a vehicle. And I was wondering if any of youse knows anything about Subaru Foresters or similar vehicles? Tacomas and Rav4s were completely out of my price range (unless I were to buy what looked like a stolen one...), but I've found some 2000-2002 Foresters for around 5k.
Tacomas were my first choice, but vehicles similar to Foresters (sort of a cross between a truck, a station wagon, and a van) are my #2, the pseudo pickups (with permanent camper shells).
Anyone have any experience with them?

A Nadam (kinda like Braglina) Travel Update
Submitted by Miah on Thu, 05/29/2008 - 1:26pm.Well our adventurous heros have started out with a rough day due to lots of packing and, to quote the "Na" half of Nadam, "Traffic was a bitch and a half". The daring duo is currently just past Baltimore and looking forward to hitting their hotel tonight. Lots of sleep is forcast for their near future.
